Former distribution: Cape Province of South Africa. Present distribution: Extinct 1800. Behaviour: See Pferdeantilope Population status: Extinct. The Bluebuck was the first African big game animal which became extinct as a result of uncontrolled hunting and grazing competition by sheep. Brief notes: Body weight: 160-170 kg Head and body length: 200-206 cm Tail length: 50-55 cm Shoulder height: 105-116 cm Gestation period: No records. Maximum age : No records. Trophy: Horn length 34-62 cm. Remarks: Mounted specimens are in museums of Vienna, Stockholm, Paris and Leiden, and a skull in the Hunterian Museum of the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
