Former distribution: As now. Present distribution: South-western Somalia, southern Ethiopia, Kenya, north-western Uganda, Tanzania. Behaviour: Preferred habitat: open grasslands with bush steppes in hills and on low ground; also in semi-desert regions; gregarious, in herds of up to 400; grazers and browsers; activity mainly diurnal. Predators include the great cats and hyenas. Population status: Stable.
