Present distribution: Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda-Burundi.

Population status: Stable.

Trophy: Record RW’s: 4 3/4″, 1950 Cameroon, Vienna Museum (Zwilling); average 2 1/2″.
Hunting methods: With beaters, dogs, nets.
Subspecies: 5 are listed (Cephalophus n. nigrifrons, C.n. kivuensis, C.n. rubidus, C.n. fosteri and C.n. hooki). Omitted here: the classification needs revision.
